Chocolate Chips Flavoured Apples

Ingredients: 

6 Granny Smith apples
 6 wooden sticks 
420 g package individually wrapped caramels, unwrapped 
2 tbsp water 
1/2 tsp vanilla extract 
1 1/2 tbsp coarse sea salt 1
80 g semisweet chocolate chips 
Directions:

  1.  Line a cookie sheet with greased foil. 
  2. In the core of each apple, insert a wooden stick at the stem end.
  3.  Arrange the apples onto the prepared cookie sheet. 
  4. In a pan, mix together the water and caramel on low heat. 
  5. Cook, stirring occasionally until the caramel is melted completely. 
  6. Stir in the vanilla extract and remove from the heat.
  7.  Dip the apples in the caramel mixture evenly and arrange onto the cookie sheet. 
  8. Sprinkle with the salt and refrigerate to chill. 
  9. In a microwave safe bowl, add the chocolate chips and microwave on high until melted completely, stirring every 30 seconds. 
  10. Pour the melted chocolate over the apples and refrigerate until everything is set.
